What can I do to stop being shy?

I dont have many friends, & i kinda feel like a loser. What do i do? How can i stop being awkward and shy? & get at females?

• I mean, every since kindergarten, i was quiet. The teacher even calls me mom & says she is worried about me, cuz I dont talk & sit alone. I've never been popular, & its really embarrassing. My older bro is really cool & gets girls all the time. I don't :( & my bro makes fun of me for that & it really hurts. I've only had 1 friend since 1st grade, but she is not that cool. & another friend, i met in 4th grade. & we have been 3 friends ever since. but, i feel kinda lame, cuz its my birthday, but no one really knows or gets me a girlft, except my 2 friends. & i look at my yearbooks, & i always only have 2 signatures from my same 2 friends every year(and some teachers,but those dont count) & its really embarassing, when I see my bro's year book flooded with signatures & girls giving him their number :(How can I be like my bro? He gets a lot of girls & I have never even kissed :( My only 2 friends are nerdy girls & its embarassing. I wouldnt consider myself a nerd, but how can i make more cooler friends, so i dont seem like a nerd? I'm just super shy, its not easy. Im 15 & a boy

  This is the short version of a longer answer: stop allowing yourself to continue to live in the shadow of your older brother. Stop comparing yourself to him. Be your own person. Develop your own opinions and ideas and don't seek out approval from others. You are an individual - not the shadow of your brother. Once you start this - you'll have people approaching you - even becoming friends - people naturally are drawn to other people that have a "sense of self". They may not agree with your opinions - but they may still want to hang around you - because at least you have opinions - that are your own...
