How do I make a good yard sale great?

  • I'm almost 15 years old and its almost yard sale season. Last year I did a yard sale at my nannies house which was close to a major highway and on the edge of a big neighborhood, I had only had 2 signs (just because I was borrowing them from my aunt and that's how many she had) but there were several more yard sales on that same street so the traffic was pretty good. I did have some stuff on a tarp on the ground and the clothes I was selling were laid on a table (can you tell I wasn't prepared?) Over all it was a pretty good week end but here are the things I'm going to improve this year and if you could expand or add to my list that would be amazing!1. I am currently working on making more signs to put at the two major roads that lead into her neighborhood2. Trying to find more tables so that people don't have to lean down and pick up stuff off of the tarp.3. Looking for a way to hang up the clothes (there are some trees in her yard and I was thinking about putting a rope between them).4. Doing some advertising maybe the Saturday or 3-4 days before the yard sale.If you do lots of yard sales I would really appreciate your help XD

    You may want to try and call a radio station and ask if u can advertise a yard sale... i done that and i had lots of people showing up.... even after the yard sale was over. u may have to search up radio stations that allow advertising for free.

I wouldnt put them on a rope tied to a tree... try getting a clothes rack. would be better.

As somebody who has been going to yard sales with her mother since infancy, and has put on a few of my own, I can tell you three things that you have to do; make sure everything is priced, even if it's a little sign saying that everything on this table is two dollars, don't do boxes of shoes, (take them by pair and set them on a table,) and finally, have a bank with enough money and change in it so that you won't have to go someplace and get change and end up keeping your valued customers waiting. You can advertise in your local newspaper but I'm not sure how much it is! Also get big bright coloured signs you can use Bristol board and use black marker or you can just buy yard sale signs
