How to get emails back from Outlook Express?

Windows xp, sp2. turned on comuter this am and most of my outlook express emails in folder were missing. how do i get these emails back.

  • Answer:

When it compacts, it puts the original in the recycle bin. If you haven't emptied your recycle bin you can just highlight inbox.bak and restore. It will put it back into your identities/microsoft/outlook express (you can do search for *.dbx to find exact path)folder where all your *.dbx files are located. Rename your inbox.dbx to inboxold.dbx (eg.) and then rename inbox.bak to inbox.dbx. If any other email folders are corrupted, you can follow similar process.
