Parallel parking tips?

What are some tips for parallel parking?

  • I'm taking my driving test for the third time on Friday and really want to pass this time. Both times I've taken it so far I've failed because of parallel parking (I thought I did pretty good the second time, but my front tire was sticking out of the line a little). If you have any tips for me to practice before Friday, I'd greatly appreciate it! The driving instructors from both times told me everything else was great, just parallel parking. Thanks in advance!

Practice, practice, practice. Write out each step and talk out loud if you must. You are allowed so many points off your exam. I've heard of others failing parallel parking and still passing. You can do it this time! Good luck.

You have to practice, again and again and again for that car.

Drive up alongside the car in front, two feet away. Back up slowly and turn the wheel until the back of your car is aimed exactly at the front of the car behind. Stop, turn the wheel all the way to the right, and go forward until your car is parallel to the curb. Straighten your wheels. With a bit of practice you can do this perfectly on the first try.
