Can you fly within the the US with a California ID receipt from the DMV and your birth certificate?
-
I plan on flying to Texas in a few days, but I don't have a California ID yet. I'm going to the DMV tomorrow and I know it's going to take more than a few days for my ID to come in the mail. Can I fly with an ID receipt and my birth certificate? I also have my SSN on a piece of paper and a military ID that expired in 2013 along with an old school ID I could bring.

Answer:
No... you have to have a valid government issued ID, no exceptions. You can try calling them to ask about it, but very doubt that they would accept anything else.

The DMV in Wisconsin issues the picture ID on the spot. Maybe CA does that, too?
