How does MoneyGram work?

Is this a secure way of using MoneyGram?

  • I'm getting some products from some suppliers I don't completely trust, and their only payment options don't include Escrow.com or Paypal.com. They said that they have a good way of transferring money, which, as far as I can tell, is very much like Escrow.com. in their words:"Take the money to any MoneyGram transfer agent and send the money, once the money is sent, tear off the reference number and then sendthe receipt to us, so once we ship out and deliver to you, you give us the reference number. Its impossible to pick the money without a Reference number."I've never used MoneyGram before, so I'm not really sure how it works exactly. Would this method work as a way to ensure that my products are delivered? I'm buying expensive equipment, so I want to make sure that I don't get conned out of my money. • Answer:

Total scam. Do not do business with them, they are not trustworthy. Per Money Gram.. "Is the Reference Number required to pay out the Transfer? No. A Reference Number helps us find the Transfer quickly, but MoneyGram does not require one for all payouts." https://www.moneygram.com/wps/portal/moneygramonline/home/CustomerService/FAQs
