I have two hermit crabs that went underneath their substrate (sand)? Should I go after them or leave them?
-
One hermit crab disappeared under the sand, but I dug her up because I thought maybe the sand was too dry. Then she dug under again and then my other one went in after her. I don't know if he went after her because she was molting (I know hermit crabs can be cannibals) or if maybe he's molting too? It's been days and I haven't seen either, but I know that molting can take weeks.... Help please?

they may be getting ready to molt, put some shells slightly bigger than they are, and see if when the time comes, jump to a new "home"
