Find something in common that you both like to talk about, don't do that question game stuff, bring things up that you have in common. It's good to get to know someone with asking questions but you don't want to come off that way. I would just try and find something you both like, discuss your day and ask them about yours, send long text, don't just put a two word text each thing you say, it will kill the conversation, talking about something that they like, write long and detailed
