Is arthritis a disability?

Disability vs shorter work hours... I have rheumatoid arthritis that is out of control. which route do I go?

  • I work 40 hours a week and attend school online two nights a week. I extremely fatigued and my wrists and other joints are very inflammed. I am trying to decide if I should take some time off or just shorten my work hours. My husband brings in income, but I bring in more. however, I do have a nice STD disability policy from my previous employer and the one I currently have. I hate to leave work on someone else, but I am really feeling a need for a break. What do you think would be a better option if I am afraid of loosing my job, but will fill out FMLA, and all the other necessary papers. I always worry about everyone else but myself. I just don't know which option to choose.

  • Answer:

Take time away from work to live without stress and get some treatment for your arthritis.

That's why you pay for STD , because a situation like yours could happen. Your first responsibility is to you and your family. Work will get along just fine without you for awhile.

Listen you sound like a kind and loyal person. Your intentions are beyond genuine. You have to take care of yourself first. Which in your case helps the others. Please, heed your Dr's advice that I'm sure he's given you. You have to slow down! You can't help the others if you can't help yourself. Make the right choice, I think you know what I'd say but its your life your choice. Good luck, I mean it.

Ask your doctor's opinion about which would be a better option for you.
