Amsterdam has canals going through it and it is fun to take a boat tour. The Anne Frank house is a must and you should read "The Diary of Anne Frank" on the flight. It's not very long. Amsterdam has great Indonesian food because Indonesia used to be a Dutch colony. It is good and interesting. They have shrimp flavored crackers! There are many interesting towns near Amsterdam that are a quick train ride away. People bike like crazy there, so watch out when you are walking. Paris is beautiful and nice just to walk around. Take a boat ride on the Seine and definitely see the Notre Dame Cathedral. The Louvre is always mobbed, but there a many smaller museums. Visit the Catacombs. Take a train out to Versailles to see a palace. Go on the London Eye. It's a big slow Ferris wheel.

Big Ben, you look up at it and say "That ain't so big." My favorite site in England was the Roman bathhouse in the aptly named city of Bath.

Make sure to have a bottle of the stars if you're in Amsterdam

An interesting place to visit in London is Royal Maritime Greenwich. You can visit the Cutty Sark (the last surviving tea clipper), the National Maritime Museum, the Royal Observatory, see the Old Royal Naval Colleges (now Greenwich University), the Queen's House and also see Greenwich Park. Other answers are right, you can only look at Big Ben but you can go on a tour of the Houses of Parliament, they're also right next to Westminster Abbey, the Banqueting House etc. A very popular tourist area.
