How can I ask him to hang out, but just as friends?
-
There is this guy I like. But the problem is, is he's my best friends ex boyfriend. I know it's wrong, and I know I cant date him, but they broke up a while ago. Him and I are really good friends. He asked me if he should ask out this girl he likes, but she flirted with a lot of guys so he didn't know if he should. I told him if he likes her to go for it. (He didn't thank god) but that shows that he obviously trusts me enough to ask for advice. But we really only text BC it's extremely awakrd in person. We facetimed each other the other night for 5 hours straight. I've now gotten to the point of where I want to hang out with him - but just as friends. We don't have school this Thursday and I really want to ask him if we can hang out - but I don't know how to ask him. I want to ask him casually. He called me his best friend the other day and it killed me yet made me want to cry tears of joy BC I know that we're close. I guess that's why I want to hang out with him... Is there anyway I could ask if he wanted to hang out on Thursday, making it clear that it's just as friends (I think he knows I like him just a little) but also making it casual? If so, where could we hang out? (Not our houses BC that's just awkward) PLEASE HELP!

Answer:
Wanna hang out with me later? or something like that. Maybe go to a public place or something. Rollerskating, an arcade-like place, etc. Where I live the skate place has $1 entrance fee on Wednesdays and that usually gets me invitations with my friends (Including my best guy friend) to go there and hang with them. If you freak out this much, it wont get you anything. All you have to do is ask casually, because it's a normal friend thing to want to hang out and he should understand that, right? Hope this helps a bit. I don't want to rant about what to do because ultimately it's your decision and there is no pure wrong way to do it.

Just say "hey let's chill on Thursday!" And then suggest ice cream or bowling or skiing, something that will keep you guys busy but still be fun and casual.

No, no, no.... Do NOT ask him to "hang out" or some similar stupid vague verbiage. Instead: invite him to do something specific such as have lunch with you. Also: avoid using the "just friends" crap. Seriously. Lunch at Wendy's or Pizza Hut (or the food court at your local mall) is not even close to being romantic!

First off there are no rules that say u cant date a guy your friend used to date. While it may be taboo, it is not unthinkable. Secondly, and the risk u run is, hanging out with him in any capacity might damage the relationship u have with his former girlfriend. So if ur gonna jeopardize that friendship, it shouldn't be just to be friends and hang out.
