When you submit SAT scores to a college?

Should i submit my Sat or ACT scores to Stanford and Pomona College? I got a 1740 on the SAT and a 27 on my ACT. Please Help ASAP

  • Answer:

1740? Are you counting all three sections, including the writing? Because most colleges, unless you're going for journalism, don't care about the writing section. What kinds of scores did you get in the math and verbal sections? The top score for the ACT is 36, for the SAT including writing section 2400. I'm not sure your scores are enough to get into Stanford in either case. According to their website, the bulk of kids who were accepted to stanford (about 0.5% of those who applied) had ACT scores over 30 and SAT scores above 700 in each category.

Go with the SATs. They seem to be more prefered and i dont think an ACT of 27 is going to get you into Stanford. There will be many applicants with scores at or over 30. You SATs look better and are closer to the top grade possible than the ACT score.
