Does anyone have a saddle?

Can anyone help me with info about & how to sell a silver plated billy cook western saddle?

  • When I was a child a friend of the family gave me a lovely tooled leather, silver plated billy cook saddle that he won in an endurance race, in the 80s I think. I am going to have to sell it. Since, sadly, I didn't grow up into a horse owning person I am wondering what the right questions are to ask about the saddle before I sell it? What measurements should I take? What other information should I have available for potential buyers? Can anyone tell me what a saddle like that might be worth? If it was ever used it was only lightly. Also, where are some places I might think about selling it? Is the internet the best way to go? Are there consignment tack stores? I'm not looking to make a ton of money but I would like to know how to get a fair price. Any advice will be welcome!

  • Answer:

I would do research on eBay and see how saddles are described. Also research prices paid for SOLD items.

I'd contact a place that sells saddles and tack for horses, if anyone could help you these people could.

A lot of it will depend on if it's an original Billy Cook or one made after he sold out. What does the plate say?
