Can I use an expired passport at the dmv?

Can I use my expired passport to apply for an I.D or a learners permit at the DMV?

  • I do not have any other form of I.D except the expired passport.

  • Answer:

    Probably not. DMV wants more proof than that even if it was good. In this state I had to show birth certificate, marriage license to show proof of name difference from birth cert.,SS card, and a utility bill with my current address just to get a renewal. They have gone crazy.

Check with your DMV office. Last I knew in my state, several bills from different companies with my name & address on them could be used. Also, you should have a social security card; that should count for something.
