Seattle Or Northwest Offshore Jobs?

Is Seattle really the #1 voice acting capital of America? Or are these jobs just for people already in the business or fresh from college?

  • A friend of mine is seriously thinking of moving to Seattle to become a voice actress. She insists Seattle is the #1 place for voice acting, and she will automatically find good paying work, and that outside of voice acting, regular jobs fall from the sky there at amazing pay rates. My other friend however insists that these jobs are only for those already in voice acting, celebrities and for those fresh from college. He also warns that there is a high race issue in the surrounding suburbs (all three of us are Black) and that prices are outrageous, even for groceries. She refuses to listen to him, claiming he is negative, and therefore, "wrong". Her two, Caucasian, Hipster friends who live outside of the city tell her it's a magical place, and therefore the "only" place for her.

  • Answer:

Anybody that says that you will "automatically find good paying work" is lying ... no matter where they're talking about. Same with "regular jobs fall from the sky at amazing pay rates". First - no "regular job" has "amazing pay rates". Second - nowhere has jobs "falling from the sky". I can tell you that public transit just about shuts down, if there is ANY snowfall. And if you don't like "big city driving", that's a nightmare. I don't know if it's the "voice acting capital" - but it seems to be the Starbucks capital. lol
