How can I get a job with no work experience?

  • I've been looking for a job for the past 4 years and cannot find one for anything. To make matters worse, I am going on 22 and have no work experience. I do what everyone says and I call and checks on my applications, network, etc and have not had any success. I have my high school diploma and I am currently in a community college full-time and in my second semester but I really, really need a job. Could anyone give me any tips? I've tried everything and it is really frustrating because mostly everyone I know that is my age has a job and some of them even have criminal records and no diploma or GED. I've tried fast food, retail, etc with no luck. I am also a single mother so this is getting increasingly frustrating. I really need some tips that could help me. All are greatly appreciated.

    when you go for an interview tell them you havent had to be out there in the job market before but things in your living situation have changed and find your self in the need if a job and you would like the opportunity to prove your worth to their company and can follow directions well . just need the opportunity

Try either or both of these: 1. Go to one or more local Veterinary clinics and ask if they will employ you part time to clean cages, walk dogs, empty trash and replenish supplies in the bathroom and exam rooms. 2. Go to an Animal Shelter and offer to do the same thing.

There are many organizations that will help you. Look under Job Search Agencies in the phone book or online. Or, under employment search. You will attend a class or they will tell you where to apply. Kelly Services seems to come to mind. You will have to take a test to see what you excel in. They will help you. I'm not sure if there is a charge. If there is, it is minimal. Give it shot. I do want to add, I applaud you trying to get out there and apply yourself. Good Luck. You are going to do great. .

It could be your hours do to school that people arent hiring you. Does your school have job searching for you. Or maybe you can attend a career fair!

Have you talked to your college? They offer help with resumes, interview techniques, and they also will hire college students to work at college. You can go to unemployment and they too offer to help with resumes and offer free classes to help with skills and interviews. Have you ever been called for an interview? Do you have limited time that you can work? Another words are you saying you can only work on Tuesday afternoons and Friday morning? It is really hard in some areas of the country to get a job. It is VERY frustrating. Have you tried a temp service? I despise them but that is how a lot of companies employ now.

I would think perhaps trying to find a job as an "apprentice". It's not quite common in America, but my father did it in Europe and is now a business owner. He has also helped young college aged kids do the same and they have been able to move across the country to their dream jobs. Although no pay is ideal, maybe try it for a week with a plan of being paid afterwards.
