  • Answer:

The best thing while in high school is to work hard to get good grades so that you can get into a good college with a large percentage of its pre-meds that get accepted into med school. While in high school try to take science classes (biology, chemistry, anatomy, and physics are good things to start on). Perhaps in your junior or senior year you could find an infectious disease specialist to shadow. Volunteering and being involved in extracurriculars can also help you get into college and get you in the practice of balancing your schedule so that you can do the same in college (when med schools look at your volunteering and extracurriculars).
