What are the best winter clothing brands?

  • those who live in the north will consider me a wimp :) but even NC winters make me so cold my bones hurt. I layer, I use under armor long underwear, have a goose down ski jacket and lined ski pants. I still freeze. any recommendations for winter clothes that actually keep you warm? especially hats with brims and gloves, I've never found anything that even comes close to working. I would especially like to hear from others who work outside...

    My youngest son lives in Wyoming and he works outside all the time. He won't buy anything but Carhartt brand. Very durable and very warm. http://www.carhartt.com, or http://www.llbean.com. Hope you get warm !!!

Look for a wool blend in the fabric. North Face, LL Bean and Cabella carries some excellent winter clothing.

Yeah, you're a wimp :) No, really, some folks just don't do well in colder weather. Cabela's offers 'Heated Performance' coats, vests, gloves, and socks. Ion battery powered with 'microwire technology', as advertised. And, pricey. I have a vest ($230) and absolutely love it. http://www.cabelas.com

Add a wool shirt to the layer. In my opinion Under Armor is not helping you get warm. A warm wool hat is essential. Heat loss from your head is huge.

Socks! Get a few good pairs of ski socks. If your feet are cold your whole body will feel cold. Also my mother-in-law uses hand and feet warmers that you can get any big box store, or sporting good store.

I work outside & I use to live in Montana. Carhartt coveralls, bib overalls, & jackets w/ hoods are pretty warm. And I like Brahma insulated boots for low temperatures & thick winter socks .

I think Lyle & Scott is the best for winter clothing brands where I like most polo shirts, jumpers and neck sweaters. But you can also find gloves, coats, jackets, hats and caps for this winter season.
