Should I take AP Environmental Science my senior year?

Which AP science class should I take next year? AP Chem, AP Physics B (algebra based), or AP Bio?

  • These are the three science classes they offer at my school. I will only be a junior next year so I plan to take all eventually. I would want to take AP Bio because I really enjoy biology, it is one of my favorite science classes. I also enjoyed physics, but next year I will be in AP Calc BC, so I would have liked to take a calculus based physics class. This year, they switched it to the algebra based one. I also hear that AP Chem is the hardest of all of the AP sciences, and I just took honors chemistry this year. I am thinking that I would want to take this next year because chemistry is still fresh in my brain and I would want to get the hardest science out of the way. I have pro's and con's for each class, so I am just wondering. Also keep in mind that I will take AP English, AP Calc BC, AP US History, and AP Spanish. Thanks!

You might want to consider what Subject SAT's you will want to take as a Junior. If you are planning to apply to an engineering program, most universities will ask you to submit a Subject SAT in math and physics. So, if you want to go the engineering route, take AP Physics next year and plan to take the Subject SAT in physics in June of 2016. If you are more interested in the life sciences or aren't leaning toward the sciences, take AP Bio and AP Chem next year and save AP Physics for your senior year. Another consideration is your grades. Colleges see your full junior year grades, so if you think you might not get an A in one of those classes, postpone it until your senior year.

Whoa, got a full plate, huh? I never took AP Chem, but many people in my grade found it so tough that they either dropped the class (the majority of which did) or failed the AP exam. I'm unsure about the others, but you should pick a science class that pertains to what you want to major in college. Good luck! I'm taking only three AP classes, and even that feels a bit much sometimes!

I'm doing honors Chem and bio now and I'm a sophomore I want to do physics by itself though because I've heard it's really hard but Chem and bio is really easy (honors at least we don't have AP) also consider if u want to take some sort of bio or chem 2
