Can you tell if an hdmi cable is bad?

How can I tell if my HDMI cable is 2.0 or not?

  • I just bought a 4K television and one of the features is UHD Deep color. But, for some reason whenever I connect a UHD Deep color compatible device, my smart TV keeps saying I do not have a UHD Deep color device connected. A Rep from the manufacturer told me I have to use a 2.0 HDMI cable or it will not recognize the device. I was told the wire that came with the TV would support all the functions of the TV, I would like to know if the HDMI cables I have 2.0 or not, so I know if it's just something wrong with the tV. The TV is a LG UB9500

  • Answer:

Number of wires it has, but use the correct HDMI cable one is the basic 2 model and the other is more expensive but supports 2.1 I think, the newer one has more 2 extra wires for faster speed.

here are some you can buy, they are not very expensive. If you cable does not work, it probably is not 2.0. http://www.amazon.com/Standard-HDMI-Cable-4096-2160P/dp/B00GSE5ZQ6
