What are good restaurants in London, England?

I'm thinking of visiting London, England someday soon. What are some tourist spots or restaurants I should check out?

Hi Rachel We only live 100 miles away from London but visit it often because it is such a fascinating and historically interesting place. As it's the capital city it is always full of visitors and tourists; it's exciting and exhausting! One thing I would recommend is going on a London Walk. http://www.londonwalks.com London is an amazingly small place ( the centre of it) and these walks, lead by great guides, will show you parts of London you could never just stumble across. We've been on several.  One of the best was the Classic London ( I think it's called that) which takes in The Houses of Parliament, Big Ben, St James's park, the Changing of the Guard etc. Each walk lasts 2 hours, cost £10 per person and children under 15 are free.  If you are a senior over 65 it's £8. Great value I think. You can do a Jack the Ripper walk and find out all about this infamous killer.  The guide is absolutely wonderful - a real expert and historian. The evening Thames pub walk was good and we had a drink or two along the way! The only thing I would be cautious about recommending is the Tower of London Walk.  You have to pay for entrance in to the Tower and it is quite expensive. We went on a spring day and it was FREEZING. Blowing a gale and wet.  The guide does not take you inside each place, but simply points out what is interesting outside. You are left after 2 hours free to explore all that the Tower has to offer, including the Crown Jewels and this is certainly worth doing.  My advice is to only go when it is dry and warm and you have lots of time and energy to devote to it. All in all waking with one of these guides is really the best way to see London. Somebody else will have to recommend the restaurants - we usually just go for a pub meal. I hope you enjoy your stay.  Take a comfortable pair of shoes and a showerproof jacket! Xx
