How do I upload videos from other sites onto youtube?

What equipment would I need to upload videos to YouTube, Metacafe, Dailymotion and other web viral sites?

  • Hi I am curious. I would like to know what equipment I would need if I wanted to upload videos to YouTube, Metacafe, Dailymotion and other web viral sites? I have stuff on VHS tapes I'd like to upload, and some stuff on DVD I'd like to share. Someone told me to get something called a PVR, but I don't know what that is and if that is correct or not. What would I use if I wanted to upload Flash animations or some other 2-D animations and create slideshows? Do people still use VHS tapes and video cameras to make home videos? I'd like to share some home videos also. Please help. Thank you.

    You don't need any equipment unless you want serious good video quality. If you do, try a regular camera that has video settings, or try GoPro. Other than that, you can get a not-so-expensive webcam or if you already have a laptop, look for a tiny or medium-sized circle. If you do have a circle on the front of your laptop that is above the computer screen then that's the webcam. Go to YouTube, sign in, click Upload, click upload by webcam, and it will probably ask you for permission to use your webcam, if it does, click OK.

I use a video camera. I use the camera to convert the raw files to a format that my video converter then converts to MP4 or whatever movie format I choose. If you are going to do a lot of movies, I recommend getting a good video editor like PowerDirector. I believe you will need specialized assistance or equipment to convert video tapes of 16 mm home video film to movies. So, a camera and a good video editor, are needed.
