Could I use an 80cc bicycle motor on a homemade go kart?
-
I'm wanting to build a hobby go-kart and wondering if an 80cc bike motor kit would be a suitable choice, especially focussing on the motors power this is the sort of motor kit I'm talking about http://motorizedbikeshq.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/07/motorbike-kit.jpg

Answer:
It seems to me the kit on the picture has to much stuff in it that you dont need for a cart. And its not saying anything about the engine. I would rather look for a used motorbike engine of a known brand, like a 125cc Honda 4 stroke, or even a 250cc. Then you have enough power, and you can find parts for it easily.

I always used old lawnmower engines.

If you can figure out a clutch and shifter, yes. When I was a kid me and a friend made one with a Kawasaki 750 motor. We never could get it running, which was probably a good thing.
