How to make my camera battery last longer?

  • I have a Canon NB-11L 3.6v 680mAh 2.5WH(Li-ion) camera battery and it only lasts about an hour on a full charge. Which means I can only take an hour long video before the battery dies, is there a way I can make the battery last longer somehow? I already lower the brightness on my digital camera. Should I be charging the battery every so often if I don't use it? I bought two and I don't use one as often, so should I be charging it? Will it be weaker or run out of charge faster when I do use it, since I don't use that one battery as often? I was going to buy another battery (same battery) because I need to record a concert for 3 hours straight and since the batteries only last about an hour I figured buy another one but will all three be as strong and last as long even if I don't charge/use them as often? Sorry for all the questions all in one, but thank you ^_^

680 mAh is not much. See if you can get a more powerful battery to fit in. My camera uses 1800 mAh batteries. Then get several spares to carry along.
