Math placement and pursuing engineering.

What is pursuing an engineering degree like for someone that hates math?

  • I am currently a high school student and this sounds so ironic, I know, but the job I want in the future requires an engineering degree, but I hate math. Despise it, more like. It's not that I can't really do it, if I really focus and put my mind to it it's possible but it's just so tedious that I cannot stand doing it. I am in geometry right now and it's literally the most tedious and seemingly pointless class I've ever had to suffer through. So point being, are most engineering degrees really ALL math, or is that just an over exaggeration? If so, is it something that if I'm not too fond of math I will be miserable in? Anyone with experience or any kind of knowledge is appreciated.

Math is how engineers and physicists understand the world. Does trig have more appeal to you, since it has obvious real-world applications? Can you do algebra? I am not an engineer or college graduate, so take my answer with a grain of salt...

Pretty much math is what drives most engineering careers. So yes, you will be miserable. (Geometry... pointless? Heretic!)
