What exactly does a secretary in student council do?

Why should you be secretary in student council?

  • I'm running for secretary of my school and to do so, you have to turn in an 100 word essay explaining why i want to be in student council and what i will do to help my school. I know i help plan activities and give new ideas but i really don't know how to turn that into 100 words. Can anyone give me ideas about what will really make other people pay attention to my campaign and vote for me?

That is something you know and only you. Why DO you want to be secretary? To be helpful to the student council . . . or just to say "I'm the student council secretary". That's something you should think through anyway. Also, what you can do to help your school is something YOU would know best. What does your school need? Can YOU help them get it? If so, tell them how you would provide this help. We don't know what your school needs, and we don't know what YOU are capable of.

Well, to be in student council you would have to have good leadership. There must be a reason why you want to be in it. People who want to be good leaders and want to make a difference in the school are the kind of people that join student council. If it's only because your friends are going to be in it or you have nothing else to do and just want to join it, then stop trying.
