Nightly news program?

A problem with translating "Live the news". What is meant by "the news": the piece of news offered or the news program on a specified hour.

  • Another problem: what is understood by the "the"? Does it mean "you/the news channel" or "news in general"? **"Live the news" is CNN's slogan

  • Answer:

'Live the news' probably means both the program. Most news programs are broadcast live on set but 'live' also means they report some of their news stories live as it happens or live from the place it happened. Like the weather reporters standing in the middle of hurricane force winds or reporters embedded with military troops.
