This is a common mistake of some who believe in creationism. The bible does NOT say the earth was created in six days Genesis 1:1 simply states in the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. When was this beginning? It does not say so the Bible isn't at odds with science so the earth could very well be 4.5 billion years old. Also each creative 'day' is not a literal 24 hours the Hebrew word used could mean a indefinite period of time it's like using the expression Jesus's day or in our day.

Young earth creationists, insist that the earth and universe is no more then 6,000 years old. They however have difficulty coming up with evidence to support their claims. The earth it's self is 4 billion years old proven by actual science. I've actually had young earth creationists tell me it's Satan making it look like it's that old and the light in the universe was added between the stars to make them look older, also the dino bones in the ground, was placed there by Satan to fool us.

It's even more unlikely if you combine this question with your other one about the Noah and the flood. How did the eight people who survived the flood spawn a human population that is now seven billion in such a short amount of time?
