How can I get rid of the scrape on my face?

How to make the caterpillar feel better? His face has been gnawed off by ants, but he is still alive.

• I found a caterpillar on the sidewalk that was getting its face gnawed off by about half a dozen ants, and I poked it and found that it was still alive. I poured a bunch of water from my water bottle over it to get the ants off, an then I got him into a bottle cap. His face was practically melded onto the concrete, so I had to scrape his face free. Now he's at my house sleeping (he is still alive) on a slightly damp paper towel in a Crayola sandwich container without a lid. How can I make him feel more comfortable during his last hours of life?

  I am an animal lover so please don't take this wrong but the best thing you can do is put him out of his misery :( ... If his face is gone there is no way he can survive, insects and other creatures can often live a long time without certain body parts (a cockroach can live a month without a head) but they will starve to death and die a slow agonizing death... there are 2 ways to do this as humanely as possible... put him in the freezer for a bit or drop him in a air tight container with an alcohol soaked cotton ball) both ways will slow the system down to a point they basically fall asleep then into a coma state before death, these are the least painful ways to put a small creature like this down..
