What to do to help a sore ankle
-
I was walking across a log laying in my aunts yard playing a balancing game. wasn't very good at it so I ended up losing my balance and falling off the log. but it wasn't a simple fall where you hit the ground, my feet were firmly planted on the log when it rolled me off. when it rolled my ankle got caught underneath the log and my ankle got crushed underneath while I was trying to pull it out so it was kind of stuck in a L shape. it felt like cracking you knuckles just 20 times worst. but I walked it off like nothing had happened but my ankle had popped under the log and it hurt. I checked it to find a sore bony knot on the side of my ankle and it looked crooked even though it hurt when I moved it I moved enough to pop the bony part that was bulging out the side back in and to straighten out my foot. then I when back to play with my dog but it was hard because my ankle hurt and my foot was twisting as i walked making me limp a bit. I ignored it and figured it would go away but my ankle is still sore when I move it. anything I can do that would help the soreness?. it's not as painful as when it first got popped/ crushed but it still hurts when I move it. I didn't play with my dog and she looked sad so I need to find away to get rid of this soreness so I can walk better and play more.

Answer:
Try taking medicine to ease the pain. Many medicines will also help with swelling. Rest is key to healing injuries. Make sure you avoid walking on your ankle too much and maybe consider using crutches for a few days. When you have free time, elevate it and put ice on the painful areas for 20 minutes every 10 to 15 minutes. Once you are done icing it, wrap it with a bandage to apply pressure and support to your ankle. I would also suggest exploring the option of going to a doctor to ensure there is nothing severely wrong with your ankle. Good luck! I hope your ankle feels better soon.

It really sounds like you broke it!!! You need to get an x-Ray. You need to keep your ankle from moving around. You need to elevate your foot on pillow above heart level & apply ice. Take some Advil for the pain & it also will help with the swelling. you should apply an ace wrap to help immobilize your ankle.

Naproxen and ice it.
