What does this traffic signal mean?

What does it mean when a traffic cop pull's you over for speeding, but crosses out the fines and points section?

  • I was recently pulled over in the Denver area on I-25. I have never been pulled over before and I'm over all a good driver. That day I was running late and in a rush. I gave the officer my license and all that other stuff and he did his thing while I waited. When I received the ticket, I noticed I had traffic court, but he had (what looked like) crossed out the section where he would have put a fine and added points. Do I find out what I pay at traffic court and how many points I received there or was this a warning or what? Any help would be great, especially from traffic cops and lawyers.

  • Answer:

I was a Colorado cop for a lot of years. If they gave you a written warning the document would say written warning. From what you describe the cop didn't give you a right to plead your case in court. Not possible, something is wrong with this whole thing! Look on the back of your ticket, find the number for the court, call it and ask them. Colorado has a speedy pay statute. Plead guilty within 10 days and a ten over speeding ticket is downgraded to a non moving violation with reduced points. If your reading that ticket right it is time to lawyer up!

I'm not an expert but I think he cut you a break. Don't do anything unless you get a date for court
