Where can I buy cute hard case luggage?

How do you pick out a good luggage bag/case to buy?

  • There seem to be so many options, but I have no idea what features or characteristics are important. It would be helpful if you provided some background on your travelling experience: how often you travel, where you've gone, mode of transportation, etc.Also, I'm a first time traveler and kinda lazy...is it annoying to pull/carry luggage around?

    Pulling your luggage isn't as annoying as it is to carry it. I generally travel by flight twice a year. I drive more often than that. I want something i can "stack". I generally travel with just a carryon and my backpack which holds my camera, lenses and laptop. I like to take my backpack and sit it on top of my carryon and roll them together. It saves carrying all that weight. I can pack 4 days worth of clothes, my makeup, toiletries, a change of shoes, and my In-styler hair tool into a carry on. I try to pack everything as tightly as I can, as I want to carry around as little as possible. They make carry-on size Ziploc bags that you can use to pack your clothes. It takes the air out of them making more room. If you think you are going to be buying souvenirs to bring home, pack a tote bag. You can check you carryon on the way home and used the totebag as your carryon.

You want to buy the most durable bag you can find that fits within the airline's guidelines. Hard-side luggage is best if you are going to be doing a lot of traveling, since it will probably hold up longer, but with some of the fabrics they have these days, soft-side may not be much different, if you get a good quality bag. Personally I never check my bags if I can avoid it. I hate waiting around for them, and I don't want to risk having anything lost, so I prefer packing as lightly as possible in a small carry-on bag. Taking lots of clothes that can fold up small and not wrinkle (or be worn more than once without looking worse for the wear).
