What should I include in my portfolio?

What do you include in a portfolio for becoming an architect?

  • I will be a sophomore in highschool in the fall and I really want to be an architect. I know for that you obviously need to send in a portfolio to apply. But what do you include in an architect portfolio? do you have to stick to floor plans and things like that? or can you put in drawings you've drawn and photos you've taken(nothing to do with architecture)? I was reading a forum and one person's portfolio (they were applying for an architect) had a bunch of art that didn't include architecture. Could someone with experience or know leg on this help me?

  • Answer:

You should include designs that you have made, yourself. You can also take others work, make sure and cite it, and place it next to you adaptions. But it should show your ideas for buildings. Just art, alone, may not get you in a school that prefers they see you actually are trying to build things, not paint them.
