Issues with uploading photos from Ipad to PC
-
My PC is not recognizing my iPad as a camera and for this reason, I cannot upload photos from this device to my PC, which is more than a bit frustrating. Details in the [more inside] The computer -- an old eMachines running Windows 7 Home Premium. Two gigs of RAM. The iPad -- 16 GB mini, version 8.0.2. not the latest model i.e. no touch ID. I hook the ipad up to the computer. When I've done this in the past with my old iPod touch, the PC recognizes it as a camera, a miniature window pops up and offers to transfer the photos to the PC. I answer in the affirmative and within a couple of minutes, the photos have transferred. I have not been able to repeat this process with my iPad. So how would I go about getting my photographs from the ipad to the PC? I understand that I could probably upload these to iCloud and then download them to my PC from there but that's really not how I would prefer to do this, mainly because of the huge volume of photos. Any thoughts? Many thanks in advance.

Don't you need to download iTunes for like nine hours before you can get an iPad to interact with a computer? Failing that, I don't have an iPad or a Mac but I reckon you would do well to poke around http://support.apple.com/downloads/#macoscomponents and see which drivers you might download.

It should do this as you described. Maybe update iTunes. Dropbox might be an option but about the same as iCloud.

Don't you need to download iTunes for like nine hours before you can get an iPad to interact with a computer? I forgot to mention that factor -- I have downloaded Itunes, for the full nine or ten hours. I was able to get ITunes to recognize my iPad but I couldn't get iTunes to transfer my photos.

even if it doesn't automatically prompt to transfer, does it show up as a usb drive under explorer? you should be able to manually copy and paste that way.

Do you get the dialog box that says "What do you want to do with this?" when you plug the iPad in? There's an import/export photos option there...

No iTunes needed to pull photos off. Connect the iPad, then on your computer, open "Computer" (either on your desktop, or on the Start menu; or even any Explorer folder should have a link on the left). The iPad should show up under "Portable Devices" and a click or two in, will have a DCIM folder with all your photos. Drag and drop. If the computer can't see the iPad at all, does the iPod still work correctly? Do you get the "device connected" sound from Windows when you plug the iPad in? And check your settings under "Autoplay" in Control Panel.
