Can I get my design image back off of Cafepress?

  • I made a design on Cafepress, and now I'd like to make a new one based on it. Unfortunately, I do not have the original image of the design anymore. I thought there would be a way to get it back from Cafepress, but I cannot find such a way. Is there one? Some info on what I've tried already inside. If I go to "My Designs", and click on the design in question, it brings me to an "Edit Design" screen for the design. There are three things on this page which seem like they might allow me to retrieve the image, but none of them do, as far as I can tell: (1) There's a thumbnail of the image. Clicking on it just brings me to a larger thumbnail, still not the proper size. (2) There's an image filename, let's say blah.jpg. I imagine perhaps there's some URL somewhere on cafepress.com incorporating that filename which might be my image, but I don't know for sure, and even if there is such a URL, I don't know what the URL is. (3) There's an "Update Design" button. Clicking on it just brings up a message saying that my design has been updated. I guess it's for if you want to change the textual description and so forth. Is there a way to get back the actual full-sized image from which I created the design in the first place? Thanks in advance.

    Have you tried http://help.cafepress.com/hc/s-74058960/cmd/kbresource/kb-3827662093434930111/escalate!PAGETYPE?VisitorProfile=cafepress to ask if they can get you access to the file? I suspect this isn't the sort of thing that they would expose directly in the interface.

Log in to your account (upper right corner, icon that looks like a stylized person). Once logged into, click on the little person icon again - now you see a bunch of options including 'my designs'. Click on 'my designs' and you should see all the previous graphic files you uploaded.

More specifically, if you want to download your design file there doesn't seem to be a built-in way to do so. But you can use this little trick: Look at the URL of the design page you found under 'my designs' as explained above. It will look something like this: http://members.cafepress.com/editdesign/45858000 Now you can download the actual graphic file by going to a URL something like this--it uses the same number in the URL above, 45858000: http://images4.cpcache.com/image/4585800.png Note that the the file extension might not be .png. It is likely .jpg, .png, .gif, .tif, .pdf or something similar. You can right click the thumbnail of the graphic and 'copy image URL' to see the file extension there.
