What is the average monthly cost of student loans?

Obama's student loans were paid off from book royalties. We can't all do that! For us non-famous, is college worth the cost?

    Of course it is. Don't compare yourself with anyone else. Get yourself educated for yourself. It helps you support yourself, but more importantly your life is enriched in every aspect. I would not go into debt though. I would either live in a state where college tuition is free, get scholarships, do school a semester and work a semester, or work for a company that pays its employees' tuition if they wish to go to school. I worked for a company that paid employee tuition. I finished college and went to graduate school in the evenings. It just about killed me but I would do it again in a heartbeat.

It's an investment. Will it pay off? That depends on many things including what you get a degree in and how hard you work. But had I not gone to school I would probably be in the bottom 1/3 of full time earners. As it is I am in the top 1/3 - a big difference. Was it worth the investment and 10 years of loan payments? Absolutely.

Well, you can choose to focus on the fundamental problem that worldwide there is not enough economically viable work available for all the people (with or without college degrees) who need to sell their labor in order to purchase the necessities of life. Or you can focus on stuff like when President Obama paid off his student loans. Your choice.
