Internet Connection Problems With Xbox 360? *Description*

I got a new TV stand recently, and it's considerably smaller than my old one. My Xbox 360 is much much lower than it used to be. I have a wireless connection, because that's what my family uses in general and didn't want to mess with all the stuff that comes with wired connections.I use a wireless adapter, and it has always worked well. Also, I took it to my Nana's house for a few days where there is no connection that I'm able to connect to. I brought it back, and after that was when it started to not connect like it used to. I've tested my connection millions of times, and still little to no improvement. Since this is not my connection, it's someone elses, I can't reset the connection via the adapter or whatever. I used to be on my connection, but I accidently disconnected from it, and my dad didn't write down the password when he set it. So I started using this one without any problem because it didn't require a password. Any ideas as to what I can do? I'm really fed up with this, and just about ready to get rid of it altogether.
