Are you afraid of death?

if afraid of death, u think this helps ?

  • "when u exist, death doesn't - and what doesn't exist can't harm u - when ur death exists, u do not, and what doesn't exist can't be harmed - it's irrational to fear what can't harm u - it's irrational to fear when u can't be harmed - at any time, either u exist, or ur death exists - thus, for any time, either death can't harm u, or u can't be harmed by death - therefore, it's irrational at any time to fear death" - Epicurus Epictetus said something similar: "death, the most dreaded of evils, is of no concern to us, for while we exist, death is not present - and when death is present, we no longer exist" is this helpful ?

  • Answer:

Epictetus forgot the instance when Death is knocking at the door while one is in pain of dying from a chronic disease - and so suffering for a longer time - that just doesn't kill one abruptly. The sanest death is instantaneous death with unfelt agony or pain lasting only a few seconds. In that case, Epictetus' perspective might hold true when the door to death opens up suddenly, but not when the door opens ever so slowly before the final outcome occurs when suffering ensues making one think or fear death as it approaches stealthily...and it becomes a minute-by-minute, day-to-day concern, both for the patient and family.

So having to bury family, friends, or pets just ain't no thang? The fear of death doesn't have to mean the fear of your body dying.
