Is fire possible without life?

How do you define life? Science has problems with this. Fire and Viruses in many ways resemble life. But are they in fact life?

  • Fire is the most easy to disqualify,,it certain consumes energy and reproduces, but contains no DNA. But what about viruses..that seem to be inert and living at the same time?

  • Answer:

I have watched flames of a fire dance and play and more. it really does speak to me on level I can relate to an arsonist (NO, I will never be one). but yes, it is easy to disqualify it. As far as I am concerned, the proof that bacteria can live outside of a body is evidence enough that it is life of some form. we might even be able to go as far as to say that mitochondria is itself, alive too, but that would be dissecting a living thing to validate it as living too, a component. viruses and bacteria is supposedly what brought us all into living (1 of gods days of creation), along with evolution, if ever to be verified.
