Women: I saw on this on CNN today. Because of the current state of the U.S. economy, women have been donating their eggs for money. Would you do this? I couldn't and wouldn't, money or no money.

Answer:
I would, but only on Easter. (bad taste?)

I've heard of this phenomenon too, and I don't think it's nearly as common as the media made it out to be. But I would do it to help someone have a child. The compensation is about $7,000 US, and it's for time and effort not the egg itself. It's definitely not a sustainable source of income as there are uncomfortable daily shots and medicine involved, so it is not a frivolous way to get quick cash.

I would, but not for the money reason. I would want to help another woman have a child that couldn't have one without eggs. But the money would be a "perk" too.

Nope.

Nope - I am fiercely protective (yes, even I amdit, "OVERLY protective) of my kids. All I would think about is my eggs growing up into children, and if they were being treated alright, etc...I just couldn't do it. I'd sell a kidney and part of my liver before selling off my eggs...sorry if that seems selfish.

Yes, I wanted to but most agents are idiots. My child will be half me and half my husband. If I could not have biological children I would still want to carry my baby.
katykat780
I would. I'm done having children so it's just period fodder for me now.

If I donated my eggs to someone, would the doctors let me get my tubes tied? Doctors won't tie my tubes because I am too young, and won't do it untill I am in my late 30's or have had a child.

i dont agree with doing things like that. I wouldnt be able to live with myself, knowing that i could possibly have a child out in the world that i wasnt raising/could possibly be being raised poorly. I dont want to sound selfish or anything, i completely understand some people have trouble having kids. Which is why i am completely for adoption, Artificial insemination, even a surrogate mother, but giving your eggs/sperm, ESPECIALLY to a donar clinic where you have no idea where they would be going.. just doesnt sound right to me..if it was to someone close to you where it wasnt for money then i would understand. But selling for money???

Yes If I really need money to survive, but I'm still not sure about the phsycological impact in the future. I never gave birth though, that makes me not qualified.
