Advice on what to do to become a police officer? please help?

I want to become a Police Officer and I heard that I can get a ride along with a Officer to get a taste of the experience. Help please.

  • I dont know where to go nor who to ask. I tried online information but nothing. I just heard about this a week ago and would like to get word from you all. So please help if there is a web site I can go to or I should ask in person at a Police Dep. I live in Los Angeles.

Friends or family that are already in law enforcement are your best bet. You don't say how old you are but I'm pretty sure they will want you to be at least 18. If not you can ask at your local precinct about the police explorers program. Good luck.

Going on ride-alongs is something good to do if you are interested in becoming a police officer. It can give you a better idea as to whether or not you think the job is for you. Do as many as you can. Ask a lot of questions about the job. Make a good impression. Just call the department. Ask to speak with a recruiter. Depending on your age, you might be able to become a police explorer or a police cadet. Getting police officer jobs is becoming more and more competitive.
