What to do with a gift card from a company that was sent to me as an apology for an inconvenience? I never want to use that company again.

I ordered a gift online a week in advance. I paid extra to have it delivered on Mothers Day. Well when the gift hadn't arrived by evening time on Mothers day so I called the company. The service rep I spoke to put me on hold for 10 min before finally returning saying he had contacted the deliver company and that the gift was en-route and would be delivered in a few min. I was furious this morning when I learned the gift had still not arrived. I called the company back and asked to speak to a manager. The rep I spoke to this morning said there was no manager available. ( Another lie; I've worked in business for 10 years there's always a manager around, and when I worked with the general public if someone asked for one of my superiors I'd immediately get one). Anyway the rep finally told me I'd get a full refund. To insure I did I emailed the companies corporate about the entire incident. (Just for the record I don't always send companies emails for just bad experiences, if I have a very good experience I let corporate know then too.)Anyway I was once again assured by management that I'd receive a full refund (that's what I wanted)but they are apparently including a gift card for my next purchase as well. I don't want a gift card for my next purchase. This company upset me and I don't want to use their services again. While I do inform companies of doing a bad job (if warranted)I don't do it to get free stuff from them, that's not my style. So what do I do with this gift card I'm being sent?

Answer:
Give it away or cut it up. You're no better or worse off for throwing it out. Don't stress over it. For you, it's just a piece of plastic. Or you could donate it to a homeless shelter that may be able to use it.

give it to someone that could really use it.

Snap it in half and mail it back to them with a curt "thanks, but your company has caused me enough trouble already" note.

There are some websites that specialize in swapping unwanted gift cards. You have a card from one store and can trade it for a card from another store. Try Googling it.

Cut it up and forget about it cherry. I'd use it personally but you are so upset perhaps in taking scissors to the card and destroying it you will find something cathartic in the mere act of doing it. Happy Tuesday! :)

Give it to somebody you dont get along with very well.
