My eyes are blurry after I put in my contacts?

Can the soap you use to wash your hands burn your eyes when you put in or take out your contacts?

  • There has been days when I've put in and taken out my contacts without any problems. This time I used this soap (kinda cheap hotel soap) and right after I wash my hands to put in my contacts or take them out, they BURN like crazy! I don't know if maybe the soap leaves any residue of any kind. Please help, I don't want to damage my eyes.

  • Answer:

I rinse my hands heavily and repeatedly, over and over before handling my contact lenses, both before taking them out at end of day and putting them in after the lenses have been cleaned. Yes, indeed -- my eyes will burn like crazy if the soap isn't completely rinsed away from my hands and fingers. ( I' m unsure if your eyes would be heavily damaged but, in my experience, they'll hurt, most likely, if there is soap on your fingers )
