Computer help please GB and usage see description please:

On Sun Aug 26th I had a notice on my computer that said I had used 90% of the GB usage for the month. We have cable internet and since I'd never seen a notice like that before I called the cable company. The lady I spoke to said run a virus scan and she didn't think we'd go over our 300 gb usage seeing as how there were only 5 days left in the month. Well here it is 3 days later and usage wise we used 44 GB in 3 days (we're of course over our limit and will be charged on our next bill.) When I saw what happened I called the company back and the woman (who took 4 tries to get my phone number correct) looked at it she said we download to much. I said my husband and I rarely download anything. We have three computers, a game system hooked to the TV (to watch netflix) and my husband has a smartphone he sometimes charges with a USB on the computer. Ocasionally we'll purchase a movie or a song from Amazon.com, we watch a lot of netflix of course, my husband plays WoW, and I go to FB and AB, and a few news sites. One thing I do though is I watch TV shows on project free (but I never download their links). Is that a possible reason we went over our GB usage? Could it be the WoW, does watching netflix count as downloading? Is it possible our internet connection has been hacked and others are bouncing off it, despite the fact it's password protected? How can we find out what's going on? I called the cable company and the lady simply said we download too much and gave me the number to the legal department. We ran virus scans there were 32 threats on my comp and Norton fixed all 32. What can we do?

Answer:
Anything used over your Internet connection to consume some thing is downloading now sending some thing is uploading, but even using a webpage is download Now I have UVerse from AT&T and I have a 250 GB limit and we use the Internet 24 hours a day for every thing TV we don't use an antenna or cable tv we use a roku player with Hulu Netflix amazon etc as our tv all day every day, we use spotify and pandora for radio so even that is Internet And we play WoW and guild wars and use Xbox live also the Xbox not as much as we used too though I run several blogs and email for work do photo editing and processing pretty much like I said we use the Internet for every thing all day and I have never once hit our limit ever ! In 4 years ! some one is hijacking your Internet cherry no way around it, if you have wireless Internet that is more than likely the problem unplug it quick How old is your router what model and what band does it use ? G or N Internet type ?

Any data that comes over the internet to your screen uses part of your 300Gb allowance. Video/movies use more than anything else. Yes Netflix counts. WoW does not use much data, video uses data about 200 times faster than WoW. Facebook and AB use even less.
