How can you make the most of your college experience?

college classmates make me feel stupid due to my lack of experience, what to do?

• I'm taking a baking and pastry certificate in college because I love to bake and decorate. problem is, I didn't find this passion until about two years ago, and while I'm perfectly comfortable baking from my own house, but I've never cooked in a commercial kitchen before, and I don't know all the techniques and stuff that you would use in cooking. I thought there'd be other people like me in my class, but as it turns out, they're all girls who already did like 4 years of culinary in vocational high schools and they all pretty much know what they are doing already and have all been working in restaurants and stuff. and they basically run circles around me and make me feel dumb for not knowing everything they do. but I can't help that, I didn't take 4 years of culinary like they did on top of that, I have performance anxiety. and as of right now, we're making things that I've never made before, so I always worry if I'm going ot do something wrong, especially since we're always in pairs, I'll be slower than my partner, and they make me feel like they're doing all the work because I'm slower than them. and they're not happy to be paired up with me because I'll slow them down. plus I just moved out of state to come do this program so I don't have any friends here, so their unfriendliness is especially down heartening to me. I was hoping to make friends in class. what should I do?
