What is street smart?

Book smarts vs street smarts. Which skill is more valuable?

• Book smarts to me is when somebody is good at gathering and retaining information from books, articles, newspapers, speeches, and hearings. Street smarts to me is when somebody has low book smarts and say they are street smart so they don't feel like total morons :D Getting connections, finding opportunities, being aware, watching out for dangerous situations, getting out of dangerous situations, knowing what to say at the right time, being socially acceptable or being able to socially connect with many people, and utilizing skills are all part of being street smart, in my opinion. Everybody has at least a little of both smarts, but not very many have a lot of both smarts. I personally had problems with both smarts, but in my opinion it's a lot easier to be street smart than be book smart. When I finally improved how to read, evaluate, and retain information from writing and speeches(Which was when I was about to be a junior in college), I realized why so many people struggle to be book smart, because it takes a lot of work and thinking. While I do think that book smarts is a more valuable skill, I also think that a person with high book smarts, won't get too far or accomplish much if they don't have a reasonable or equal amount of street smarts.
