To solve the issue of school bullying, should schools hold seminars between victims bullies, and their parents to resolve conflicts?
-
I was given the suggestion that the solution to bullying is to get parents involved and for schools to hold meetings with parents to discuss their children bullying or getting bullied. So I thought that schools should have bullies, their victims, and if possible, their parents in counseling seminars where they all work together to resolve their conflicts. Bullies could learn how to respect others and parents could learn how to teach their children to respect others in the process.

Answer:
Of course, dialog is better than war to resolve problems! However, I feel that there is no easy way to explain or to resolve the bullying disease that seems rampant in today’s society. Parents are often too protective, aggressive or just living in denial of their own children behaving like bullies. I am sure there are some parents who do not even comprehend the problem; some are simply proud of the bullies they brought up. So, it is absolutely imperative to educate ‘bully parents’. They have to agree that there is a problem in the first place. If they won’t wish to bring their children in line, no-one else will manage it. Then, the way forward must be to have everyone meet on a regular basis to talk about what progress or possible incidents that may have happened. Perhaps everyone should agree to introduce a penalty for bullies … like a good thrashing …. :)) Just kidding!

TOWEL OF THE CORN
Yes Restorative Justice (sometimes called Reparative Justice) is used widely here in school. workplaces and in many other situations for solving issues. The practice focuses on how behaviours make someone feel. Victims take an active role in the process, while offenders are encouraged to take responsibility for their actions, "to repair the harm they've done—by apologising or working to restore the damage e.g returning stolen money. A solution or agreement contract is reached. We have evidence of great success - it works.
