What is the problem in people seeking asylum in islands in Papua New Guinea that is causing so much controversy? (More...)
-
I noticed that half the artists in the 19th Sydney Biennale have decided to strike because of it's leading controversial sponsor, Transfield It is a Sydney-based construction giant which has contracts with the government there to house asylum seekers on Manus and Nauru Islands in Papa New Guinea. Now, my purpose is to read about art around the world. I had seen these things happening in other news sources, but didn't tie it to the art. Now I am interested, since when real events affect artists, it gets my attention. Artists are more sensitive to life. It sounds important, so I'm curious about what kind of asylum it is.
