If I would want to become a neonatologist?

I'm straight, but I so want to become LGBT and I just can't!!! :(( What can I do to become LGBT, more specifically GB (See description!)?

  • So, I'm a guy in my mid 20s and I`m straight. I want to become LGBT but I just can't! No matter how hard I try sometimes it is just too disgusting. I could easily become a Lesbian if I changed sex but that's not easy and I do not want to become a woman because I do not want to go through surgery nor do I have the money to do so. But this would be the best option. As for the other options, G and B, it gets too disgusting sometimes and I can't stand it. Side question: Am I born straight? If some people are born straight, are some people born bisexual?

    First, drop the disgusting adjective on same sex attraction. I don't discourage two heterosexuals from sexual relations. I just understand their attraction is not shared by myself. You can be straight and effeminate. You can be straight and masculine. You can possess all qualities but the attraction for the same sex. Whatever feels natural for you. You cannot change your sexual attraction. Short of permanent brain damage and heavy medication there's nothing you can do. I strongly believe your sexual attraction is set at birth. I think even your level of effeminacy and masculinity is mostly set at your birth as well. I think a large part of it does develop over the course of your life but for the most part, who you are is a part of the personality you came into the world with. You can be an ally. We could always use more and they are just as welcome into the community as any LGBT person would be. There is nothing wrong in that. What would be wrong, would be lying to yourself and trying to be something that you are not. That is a struggle that is universally acknowledged by all in the LGBT community.

You're a guy and attracted to women, so that kills L and G. Don't want surgery, so that cuts out T. Bi is still possible, but your "disgusted" opinion lets that out too. You're straight, IMO brains may be hard-wired that way. You can be straight and a supporter of the LGBT community as I am (gay and lesbian friends, my daughter is bi and my father transsexual).

Doesn't matter which way you are born. Whether or not you choose your sexual orientation, you can choose your conduct. If you want to be gay, go have sex with a man-then, you'd be gay. If you like to have sex with women only (since you're a guy), then you'd be straight. If you like to have sex with men and women, you're bisexual. It's more simple than people make it.

I think Sodapop makes some great points in his/her answer, but I think you also need to ask yourself, why you're wanting to become something you're not. Trying to "become gay" when you have no attraction to people of the same sex just sounds like you're wanting to follow a trend or "fad", believing that it's popular to be gay so you want to get in on the wave. That doesn't mean you couldn't/shouldn't be a "friend of the family" as my LGBT friends sometimes say. But examine why this is so important to you - knowing yourself will give you a lot more clarity on how to proceed. And to everyone about to burn up their keyboards yelling at me about calling homosexuality a fad - that's not what I'm saying. But gay rights issues are garnering enormous amounts of attention these days, and there are people in this world who just want to follow whatever they perceive as "hot at the moment". I'm just saying, be who you are. If you're gay, be gay. If you're straight and gay-friendly, be that.
