Can driving records from Massachusetts be pulled in Arizona?

Massachusetts SWAT teams claim they’re private corporations, immune from open records laws. What do you think of this?

  • As part of the American Civil Liberties Union’s recent report on police militarization, the Massachusetts chapter of the organization sent open records requests to SWAT teams across that state. It received an interesting response. As it turns out, a number of SWAT teams in the Bay State are operated by what are called law enforcement councils, or LECs. These LECs are funded by several police agencies in a given geographic area and overseen by an executive board, which is usually made up of police chiefs from member police departments Some of these LECs have also apparently incorporated as 501(c)(3) organizations. And it’s here that we run into problems. According to the ACLU, the LECs are claiming that the 501(c)(3) status means that they’re private corporations, not government agencies. And therefore, they say they’re immune from open records requests. Let’s be clear. These agencies oversee police activities. They employ cops who carry guns, wear badges, collect paychecks provided by taxpayers and have the power to detain, arrest, injure and kill. http://www.washingtonpost.com/news/the-watch/wp/2014/06/26/massachusetts-swat-teams-claim-theyre-private-corporations-immune-from-open-records-laws/

By the way, Kudos to the ACLU. I don't always agree with them but I am squarely in there corner here.

I read about this and I think it is a load of crap, WRONG to the 26th power!!!! Stupidness like this is a PERFECT example of how bureaucrats created the Tea Party and continue to cause it to grow! And why Herman Cain was 100% correct when he said a week or so ago that "Stupid people are running America, low information voters!" Government is NON-productive, meaning they don't actually generate anything that the elecorate can actually pick up with their hands, load into a computer or hang on a wall and use. When I read this last week I almost posted it as a question. I didnt', so I've saved my rant until now. John Henry Faulk used to say something to the effect, "If you owned the ranch why would you let the hired hands tell you to stay out of the way, you'd fire them wouldn't you? Would you let the bus driver that YOU hired dictate to you when you complatin about the way he's driviing YOUR bus? You'd fire him wouldn't you? So why in the world would anybody with an iota of sense allow some bunch of Barney Fifes decide what the people that finance them do and do not need to know?!?! Yes this makes me angry! But what REALLY knocks the wind out of me is when these people that think they're a "private posse" start tossing out their BS like a farmer tosses out fertilizer in the spring PEOPLE ACTUALLY BELIEVE WHAT THEY'RE BEING TOLD!!!!! The really infuriating part of this is that the people who are believing the BS are the people who are being screwed by these bureaucrats - but they're too stupid to know it - These are the "low information voters" Sort of like the frog and the boiling water I don't know where you read this story and I don't remember where I read it but somewhere there are mEdia outletS that are FINALLY doing their job! If the truth causes some BS bureaucrat spokesman/person to shoot themself in the foot then that's just too damn bad! And if some half baked mega biased media looser goes out of business then that just too bad also. To think that people would let a bunch of "can't get a real job political hack bureaucrats" run the show . . . I'm done.
